Bill Lennon, oo ah aasaasaha iyo maamulaha shirkadda, ayaa ku sheegay X Jimcihii in barnaamijku si rasmi ah u xidhmi doono November 6.
Lennon oo ammaanay waxa kooxda gaartay
Lennon ayaa sheegay inuu aad ugu faraxsan yahay waxa ay gaareen, isagoo xusay in koox yar ay dhiseen caawiye shaqsi ah oo cajiib ah. Wuxuu mahadnaq u diray kooxdooda, isticmaalayaashooda, maalgashadayaashooda iyo dhammaan kuwii taageeray safarkooda.
Ollie waxay bishii September la hadashay TechCrunch ka dib markii ay heshay maalgelin abuur ah oo dhan $7.5 million oo uu hoggaaminayay Khosla Ventures. Shirkaddu waxay bixisay adeeg ku salaysan rukhsad, waxayna diiradda saartay caawinta qoysaska inay isku xirnaadaan oo ay isu habeeyaan.
Adeegga iyo heerka ilaalinta xogta
Barnaamijku wuxuu ku xirmi jiray iimaylka iyo kalandarka isticmaalaha, wuxuuna bixin jiray hawlo isku dhafan oo looga caawiyo ballamaha, qorsheynta cuntada iyo bixinta biilasha. Shirkaddu waxay kaloo qorsheynaysay inay mustaqbalka gasho miisaaniyadda qoyska.
Ollie waxay ka mid ahayd barnaamijyadii ugu horreeyay ee caanka ahaa ee gaara SOC 2, oo ah heerka u hoggaansanaanta ilaalinta xogta ee shirkaduhu ku heli karaan baaritaan madax-bannaan.
Tartanka suuqa iyo tillaabada xigta ee macaamiisha
Lennon ayaa sheegay inay wax yar ka hadheen, laakiin aysan lop u qaadan karin. Wuxuu xusay in Muse, Instinct iyo kuwa kale ay soo galeen suuqa, taasoo ka dhigtay mid adag inay soo baxaan, koraan oo ay helaan maalgelinta loo baahan yahay.
Lennon ayaa intaa ku daray in macaamiisha Ollie ay maalmaha soo socda heli doonaan tilmaamo ku saabsan sida xogtooda loo dhoofin karo iyo sida lacagaha loo celin karo.
CEO Bill Lennon says competition from Muse, Instinct and others made it harder to stand out, grow and raise capital.
Ollie, a startup that set out to build an AI assistant respecting users' privacy, will shut down in a week, co-founder and CEO Bill Lennon announced on X on Friday. He said the app will officially close on November 6.
Lennon Announces Closure and Thanks Supporters
Lennon posted the news on X on Friday, setting November 6 as the official shutdown date. "I'm really proud of what we accomplished," he said. "We built an incredible personal assistant with a small team, and learned a ton. I'm grateful to our amazing team, our users, our investors, and everyone who supported us on this journey."
A Subscription Assistant Built Around Family Life
Ollie offered a subscription-based model and focused on helping families stay connected and organized. The app connected to a user's email and calendar and included integrated functions for appointment bookings, meal planning and bill payments. The company had also planned to eventually move into household budgeting. In September, Ollie discussed its $7.5 million seed round led by Khosla Ventures with TechCrunch.
Privacy Standard and Competitive Pressure
Ollie was one of the first mainstream apps to achieve SOC 2, a privacy compliance standard companies can attain through an independent audit. Lennon attributed the closure to competitive pressure. "We got close, but ultimately couldn't keep up," he said. "With Muse, Instinct, and others entering the space, it became harder to stand out, grow, and raise the capital we needed to succeed." Customers will receive instructions on exporting data and receiving refunds in the coming days, Lennon said.
