Zen Browser: Beddelka Arc ee uu qoraa ku tilmaamay mid isaga ku habboon
Qoraagu wuxuu sheegay in Zen uu qaato qaabka Arc laakiin uu ka tirito AI-ga iyo culayska.
Qoraa ku qoray The Verge ayaa sheegay in uu Arc ka tagay oo uu u guuray Zen Browser, isagoo ku tilmaamay in Zen uu yahay beddelka Arc ee uu lahaa. Wuxuu sheegay in Atlassian ay iibsadeen shirkadda Arc sanadkii hore oo ay diiradda saartay Dia.
Zen iyo Arc: isku ekaansho muuqaal ah
Qoraagu wuxuu sheegay in Zen Browser uu qaato qaybaha ugu wanaagsan ee Arc, isagoo sheegay in muuqaal ahaan ay labaduba almost indistinguishable yihiin. Wuxuu sheegay in Zen uu leeyahay goobo la xidhay oo la mid ah launcher-ka, tab bar dhanka bidix, spaces gooni ah, iyo mods lagu beddelo muuqaalka browser-ka. Wuxuu kaloo sheegay in aanu jirin agent sidebar ku cadaadinaya isticmaalaha, isagoo aan ka walaacsanayn in Zen uu LLM ku tababaro dhaqdhaqaaqiisa.
Astaamaha iyo xaddidaadaha Zen
Qoraagu wuxuu sheegay in Zen uu taageero Firefox extensions iyo Zen Mods, isagoo sheegay in khibrad ahaan uu extensions-ka si ka wanaagsan u maareeyo marka loo eego Arc. Wuxuu sheegay in links-ku ku furmaan glance view oo ah tab ku meel gaar ah, iyo in floating bar soo baxo marka la riixo Command+T ama CTRL+T. Wuxuu kaloo sheegay in Zen uusan hadda ciyaari karin muuqaal DRM lagu ilaaliyay, sidaas darteed Netflix, Spotify, HBO iyo Disney+ aysan ka shaqaynayn Zen, isagoo sheegay in Zen Team ay ka shaqaynayso helista Widevine license Google.
Xaddidaad Firefox iyo horumarka Zen
Qoraagu wuxuu sheegay in Zen uu ku dhisan yahay Firefox, isagoo sheegay in taageerada Web MIDI ee Firefox ay liidato, sidaas darteed uu Chrome si semi-regular ah u isticmaalo. Wuxuu sheegay in haddii qof uu Zen tijaabiyay waqti hore oo uu ka niyad jabay noocyadiisii hore ee buggy, uu hadda aad u horumaray. Wuxuu kaloo sheegay in haddii qof uu si buuxda u rabo astaamaha AI ee Arc, Dia ay u badan tahay inuu ku habboon yahay. Zen wuxuu ku faanaa astaamaha asturnaanta, isagoo leh: "Beautifully designed, privacy-focused, and packed with features. We care about your experience, not your data."
The open-source Firefox-based browser borrows Arc's layout but skips its AI features, though DRM video does not work.
A reviewer who left Arc says Zen Browser offers much of what made Arc's interface appealing, without the AI features and data concerns. The reviewer reports that Arc will soon be discontinued after Atlassian bought its company and shifted focus to Dia.
An Arc-style interface without the AI
The reviewer writes that Zen closely mirrors Arc visually, with launcher-like pinned sites, a left-side tab bar, siloed spaces and mods for customizing the interface. Unlike Arc, the reviewer says, Zen has no sidebar agent pushing to handle tasks, and the reviewer is not worried about Zen training an LLM on browsing activity. Zen describes itself as "Beautifully designed, privacy-focused, and packed with features. We care about your experience, not your data."
Free, open source and extension-friendly
The reviewer notes that Zen is a free and open-source project relying on volunteers and donations. It supports Firefox extensions and Zen Mods, and the reviewer says anecdotally that it handles extensions better than Arc. The reviewer also highlights a "glance" view for temporary pop-over tabs and a floating bar that appears with Command+T or CTRL+T for opening tabs, switching tabs, searching or triggering an extension.
DRM video and Web MIDI remain gaps
The reviewer says Zen cannot currently play DRM-protected video, so Netflix, Spotify, HBO, Disney+ and similar services do not work in it. The reviewer reports that the Zen Team is working to obtain a Widevine license from Google. Because Zen is built on Firefox, whose Web MIDI support the reviewer calls lacking, the reviewer still uses Chrome semi-regularly. The reviewer adds that Zen has improved since its buggy early builds.
