Diaz: Maamulka Trump wuxuu isku dayay inuu faraha galo habka doorashada Maraykanka
Jonathan Diaz oo ka tirsan Campaign Legal Center ayaa sheegay in maamulka Trump uu isku dayay inuu dawladda federaalka geliyo qayb kasta oo ka mid ah habka doorashada, isagoo ku tilmaamay in tani abuurtay jawi cabsi iyo hubaal-darro ah ka hor doorashooyinka dhexe ee November 3.
Diaz: Jawi cabsi iyo hubaal-darro ah
Diaz, oo ah agaasimaha u doodista iyo iskaashiga codbixinta ee Campaign Legal Center, ayaa sheegay in maamulka Trump uu isku dayay inuu dawladda federaalka geliyo ku dhawaad qayb kasta oo ka mid ah habka doorashada ka hor codbixinta 2026. Wuxuu intaa ku daray in khataraha muddada dheer ay aad u weyn yihiin, laakiin doorashooyinkan dhexe gaar ahaan, xitaa haddii uusan ku guulaysan beddelidda xeerarka ama ku qasbidda saraakiisha doorashada ee gobolka iyo degmada inay sameeyaan waxa uu rabo, ay abuurtay jawi cabsi iyo hubaal-darro ah.
Marka la eego ra'yi ururin cusub oo ay sameysay Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs, kaliya 55 boqolkiiba Dimuqraadiyiinta ayaa sheegay inay kalsooni ku qabaan in tirinta kama dambaysta ah ee doorashada dhexe ay noqon doonto mid sax ah, marka la barbardhigo 38 boqolkiiba Jamhuuriyiinta.
SAVE Act iyo xogta muwaadiniinta
Trump wuxuu si isdaba joog ah u sheegay in tiro badan oo aan muwaadiniin ahayn ay codbixiyaan doorashooyinka Maraykanka, in kasta oo tirooyinka dhabta ah ay muujinayaan in tani aad u dhif tahay. Diiwaanka Heritage Foundation ee kiisaska la diiwaangeliyay ee khiyaanada codbixinta waxaa ku jira 100 kiis oo aan muwaadiniin ahayn ay codbixiyeen intii u dhaxeysay 1982 iyo 2025, taas oo ah qiyaastii 0.000008 boqolkiiba in ka badan 1.3 bilyan oo cod oo la dhiibtay doorashooyinka madaxtinimada muddadaas, sida ay New York Times ku soo warisay bishii April.
Trump wuxuu ku cadaadinayay xubnaha sharci-dejinta inay meel mariyaan Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, kaas oo u baahan doona dadka inay soo bandhigaan caddeyn dokumenti ah oo muujinaysa muwaadinnimada Maraykanka si ay u codeeyaan. Sida laga soo xigtay Campaign Legal Center, in ka badan 21 milyan oo Maraykanka ah, ama ku dhawaad 10 boqolkiiba dadka da'da codbixinta, ayaan heli karin caddeyn dokumenti ah oo muwaadinnimo.
Dacwado iyo khilaaf ku saabsan codbixinta boostada
Waaxda Cadaaladda ayaa bartamihii bishii October sheegtay inay ku soo oogtay 113 qof oo ku nool 20 gobol, iyagoo lagu eedeynayo dembiyo codbixineed ama diiwaangelin ah toddobadii toddobaad ee la soo dhaafay. Waxay horay u sheegtay inay ku soo oogtay ilaa 90 qof oo ku saabsan anshax-xumo doorasho 2026, oo ay ku jiraan 50 qof oo looga shakisan yahay inay u codeeyeen sidii aan muwaadiniin ahayn.
Maamulka Trump wuxuu sidoo kale dacweeyay saraakiisha doorashada California si uu uga hortago in gobolka uu tiriyo ilaa 20,000 oo warqadood oo codbixin boosto ah oo uu sheegay inay soo direen dad aan muwaadiniin ahayn. Laakiin garsoore federaali ah ayaa go'aansaday in tirinta ay sii socoto, isagoo sheegay in codsiga maamulka uu jebinayo mabaadi'da dastuuriga ah ee soo jireenka ah ee faraya in gobolladu ay xakameeyaan doorashooyinkooda.
A Campaign Legal Center official says federal agencies have been pushed into nearly every part of the election process, while court rulings have blocked or limited several measures.
Americans vote on November 3 in midterm elections that could cost Republicans control of Congress and endanger President Donald Trump's legislative agenda. Elections are run by the states under the US Constitution, but Trump has still sought to influence the vote, said Jonathan Diaz of the Campaign Legal Center.
Federal pressure and public confidence
Diaz, director for voting advocacy and partnerships at the Campaign Legal Center, said the administration "has tried to insert the federal government into almost every aspect of the election process" before the 2026 vote. He said the long-term risks are very significant, but for these midterms, even without success in changing rules or coercing state and local officials, "it's created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty." An AP-NORC poll found 55 percent of Democrats and 38 percent of Republicans were confident the final count will be accurate.
The SAVE Act and citizenship proof
Trump has repeatedly claimed large numbers of noncitizens vote, though the numbers show this is exceedingly rare. Voting is reserved for citizens and already requires ID, with penalties including fines, prison or deportation. The Heritage Foundation's database lists 100 noncitizen voting cases from 1982 to 2025, about 0.000008 percent of more than 1.3 billion presidential votes cast in that period, the New York Times reported in April.
Trump has pushed lawmakers to pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, requiring "documentary proof of United States citizenship" to vote. The US issues no national identity card, and a driver's license would not suffice if it does not show a place of birth. The Campaign Legal Center says more than 21 million Americans, nearly 10 percent of voting-age Americans, lack such proof.
Database, charges and redistricting
At least 25 states opted into the expanded SAVE database, which scanned 67 million registrations before a judge blocked it in June; the Supreme Court lifted the block in September. Diaz said SAVE "is incredibly unreliable when it comes to verifying the citizenship status of an individual person." The Justice Department said in mid-October it had charged 113 people across 20 states with voting or registration offenses in seven weeks.
Trump urged Republicans to redraw US House districts, notably in Texas, where a new map would give Republicans five more seats; California voters approved a map giving Democrats five more. Diaz said redistricting is "bad for the long-term health of democracy when a majority of American voters do not have a meaningful choice in who represents them in Congress."
