United States coach Mauricio Pochettino says he will reach out to Monaco striker Folarin Balogun in the coming days to offer support after the 25-year-old walked away from a potential transfer to Everton on deadline day last Tuesday.

Folarin Balogun, a 25-year-old striker for AS Monaco, walked away from a potential transfer to Everton on deadline day last Tuesday. Terms had appeared to be agreed between the player and the English club, but questions raised by Everton about his medical caused Balogun to reconsider and he remains with Monaco.
Monaco sporting director Thiago Scuro said Balogun's allegation is that he is not feeling well by the way the club treated him, the way the medical team brought doubts about his future or his health, and he is not comfortable to sign a long contract here the way they finished the transfer window.
Pochettino Offers Support and Space
Pochettino said he wants to give Balogun space after the Everton situation and will call him in the next few days. He said he wants to know from Balogun what happened, but always offering support and being with them, and that he thinks Balogun is an important player for the USMNT and was an important player in the World Cup.
Pochettino said he hopes Balogun can find his best place to perform, whether in Monaco or another place. He said it is difficult because you cannot influence the decision and only you need to support what they are doing with the people making the decisions.
Transfer Windows and Dual Nationals
It is unclear whether Balogun will remain with Monaco as his transfer options dwindle. The Saudi Pro League transfer window is open until Oct. 12, so that remains an option as do the Portuguese League (Sept. 15), Brazil's league (Sept. 11) and Mexico's Liga MX (Sept. 11).
Pochettino said he is working with all the dual national and player with the possibility to make a decision. He said if one day dual nationals feel they can defend and want to fight and to be part of the national team, of course, if they deserve and the USMNT considers they deserve to be involved, of course they are going to call.
