Somali President Offers Condolences to Qatar Emir

DOHA – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has traveled to Doha to offer his condolences to Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, following the death of the emir’s father, the former ruler Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

President Mohamud arrived in Doha on Tuesday leading a Somali delegation and later met Sheikh Tamim at Lusail Palace. During the meeting, he conveyed Somalia’s sympathy, describing the period as one of national mourning.

Mr Mohamud expressed his condolences to the emir, the Al Thani royal family, and the people of Qatar. He also prayed for the late Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to be granted eternal peace.

Sheikh Tamim thanked the Somali president for his message of condolence and for the solidarity shown by the Somali government and its people. He also highlighted the longstanding relationship between Qatar and Somalia, reaffirming the close cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
