Save the Children Blasts Starmer’s Complicity in Israeli Atrocities
Save the Children UK has accused outgoing Prime Minister Keir Starmer of complicity in Israeli atrocities against Palestinians, labeling his legacy as “marked by enabling these violations.” In a recent post on social media, the NGO expressed strong words, stating, “History will remember your complicity.”
The post highlights the UK’s continued supply of parts for F-35 fighter jets to Israel despite a partial arms suspension in 2024. Additionally, a photo attached to the post features a plaque reading, “KEIR STARMER witnessed 73,000 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces, including 21,000 children, and kept supplying arms to Israel.”
Save the Children believes that despite the partial arms suspension, the UK government has persisted in enabling these atrocities. The organization urges the incoming Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, to take action and distance the UK from its support for Israel.
“Nothing can change the horrors Palestinians have faced,” the charity stated, “but the next Prime Minister has the opportunity to put an end to the UK Government’s role as an ally to atrocities.” Save the Children advocates for the suspension of all arms sales to Israel, termination of the UK-Israel trade agreement, and a ban on trade with illegal settlements.
