Dhibaatada waa mid aad u fahmayn, waana in la isku dayo in la fahmo sababta ay u dhacdo. Tacliinta iyo fikradaha cusub waxay ka caawin karaan in la yareeyo dhibaatada.
Dhibaatada Maaha Mid Cusub
Dhibaatada maaha wax cusub oo kaliya, waayo dadku waxay u dhibeen qof walba muddo dheer. Mozart, tusaale ahaan, wuxuu ahaa qof dhibaatada ku jiray. Dadku waxay u dhibeen sababo kala duwan, sida inay yihiin kuwo farxad leh.

Procrastination is frequently dismissed as laziness or a modern malaise, yet research shows it is a deeply rooted human behaviour that can be understood and overcome through a shift in approach rather than sheer willpower.
A Historical and Psychological Reality
Contrary to popular belief, procrastination is not a new phenomenon. People throughout history have struggled to complete tasks on time, with even the legendary composer Mozart known as a serial procrastinator. This behaviour persists across generations, challenging the notion that it is solely a product of contemporary life.
The causes are also more complex than simple laziness. Many individuals push tasks aside for a variety of reasons, including perfectionism and fear of failure. Understanding these underlying drivers is the first step toward addressing the habit effectively.
Changing the Approach, Not the Effort
Itamar Shatz, a social science lecturer at Cambridge University and author of the August 2026 book Solving Procrastination: The Science of Why We Put Things Off and How to (Finally!) Stop, argues that the solution lies in changing one's strategy rather than working harder. He emphasises that the key to overcoming procrastination is to stop thinking you simply have to work harder and instead change your approach.
Shatz highlights that identifying personal motivation is crucial in this process. As he states, the really important thing is to figure out what is going to motivate you. This insight forms the foundation of his evidence-based framework for tackling procrastination.
A Quiz to Test Your Knowledge
To explore these concepts further, a quiz was developed based on Life Kit's interview with Shatz and his book. The quiz, written by Malaka Gharib, is designed to help readers assess their understanding of procrastination while potentially discovering practical tools for overcoming it.
The project involved a team of specialists, with quiz design and development by Alyson Hurt, editing by Sylvie Douglis, and visual editing by CJ Riculan. Published on September 6, 2026, the quiz aims to engage audiences in a meaningful conversation about a universal challenge.
