Shirka Qaramada Midoobay ayaa sheegay in dagaal cusub oo ka socda Yemen uu sababay in 150,000 qof oo dadweyne ah ay ka cararaan guryahooda. Dagaalkan ayaa ka dhacay xeebta galbeed ee dalka, halkaas oo ciidamada Houthi ay ku guuleysteen inay gacanta ku dhigaan magaalada Hays.
Qarsoodi iyo Carqaladeysnaanta
Ciidamada Houthi ee dhiigga leh ayaa ku guuleystay inay gacanta ku dhigaan magaalada Hays, halkaas oo shilasho iyo qaraxyo ay ka dhacayaan. Abu Walid, qof aan magaciisa la sheegin, wuxuu sheegay inay guryahooda ka baxeen intii u dhaxaysay 6-ka galabnimo, iyagoo aan waxba ka qaadan guryahooda. Wuxuu yiri: 'Waxaanu soo gaaray dagaal ka dhan ah Houthi, waxaanu ka baxnay guriga aan lahayn waxba, kaliya ayaa inaan lahayn dhar aan ku jiray.'
Dhanka kale, haweeney oo ka mid ah dadka caruurta la socday ayaa sheegtay inay ka carreen magaalada Hays kadib markii qarax loo adeegsaday shilasho uu ku dhacay guriga. Waxay intaas ku dartay: 'Ma ogeynaan halka aan u jeedo, waxaanu noqonay dad cararay oo aan lahayn kharash, kharash, ama kharash.' Waxay sidoo kale sheegtay in caruurta ay ka baxeen waxbarashada, iyagoo u baahan in la siiyo guryo, waxbarasho, iyo caafimaad.
Caawinaadka Qaramada Midoobay
Xarunta Qaramada Midoobay ee Bulshada (UNFPA) ayaa sheegtay inay bixiso caawinaad degdeg ah oo ay ku jiraan alaabta guriga, iyagoo siinaya qoysaska iyo carruurta maalintii ugu horreysay ee ay ka cararaan guryahooda. Wakiilka UNFPA ee Yemen, Francesco Gualtieri, wuxuu sheegay inay xoojiyeen dhibaatooyinka dadka ku nool meelaha amnigu hooseeyo.
Waxa uu intaas ku daray: 'Waxay adag tahay in la gaaro, waxay noqotay in la gaaro xafiisyada, xafiisyada adeegga, iyo xafiisyada caafimaadka.' Dagaalkan cusub ayaa ka dhigay in 150,000 qof oo cusub ay ka cararaan guryahooda, halka ka hor inta aan dagaalku bilaabanin, 5.2 milyan qof ayaa ku jiray xaalad carqaladeysan.
The United Nations reports that at least 150,000 people have fled their homes in Yemen following renewed fighting that has killed hundreds. This displacement follows a rapid advance by Iran-backed Houthi fighters along the western coast toward the Bab el-Mandeb Strait in recent weeks.
Displacement and Casualties
Abu Walid, a resident who did not give his real name due to safety fears, stated that his family came under attack by the Houthis at around 6pm. They left their home with nothing but the clothes they were wearing. Abu Walid noted that the Houthi militias had taken control of the city of Hays, where shelling and bombardment were falling. A woman who was also displaced from Hays said she and her children fled when a mortar shell was fired at them.
The conflict has forced many to abandon their possessions. Abu Walid recounted that a mortar shell landed right next to the door of their house. Another displaced woman expressed the desperation of the situation, stating, 'I don't know where we are going or where to turn. We are now displaced and have no identity cards, no passports, nothing.' She added that their children are now out of school and they need help from humanitarian organizations.
Humanitarian Response and Access
The UN Population Fund says its rapid response mechanism is providing everyday household items, as well as helping women, families, and children to get through their first five days of displacement. However, the UNFPA's representative in Yemen, Francesco Gualtieri, highlighted the severe challenges facing aid delivery. He stated that access has become very difficult for the authorities, for service providers, and for the humanitarian organisations.
Francesco Gualtieri emphasized that they are also concerned about people currently living in the areas affected by very low security. He noted, 'They are hard to reach, access has become very difficult for the authorities, for service providers, for the humanitarian organisations.' This escalation adds to a crisis where, before the recent events, more than 5.2 million people were already internally displaced inside Yemen.
