Racist Message Sender Fired by Employer After Targeting WNBA Star Chelsea Gray

A man who allegedly sent a racist message to Las Vegas Aces guard Chelsea Gray on social media has been fired by his employer.

Hilton Grand Vacations issued a statement confirming the firing on Tuesday, one day after Gray shared a screenshot of the offensive message on her Instagram account.

“The person responsible for posting this information is no longer with the company,” the statement read. “His behavior was in violation of multiple company policies and does not reflect our company’s values in any way.”

Gray received the message after the Aces’ loss to the Indiana Fever on Sunday. The message called her a racial slur.

“People act like we just make this s— up,” Gray wrote in her post. “And the audacity to tell us as athletes to ‘shut up and dribble.'”

This incident comes two weeks after Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas revealed she had received death threats and racial slurs following her suspension for an altercation in a game.

Thomas criticized WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert for failing to adequately protect players from such incidents.

The WNBA recently implemented a new collective bargaining agreement that includes an anti-hate campaign and strengthened fan code of conduct to address these concerns.

“We’re so concerned about the safety on the court,” Thomas said. “But time and time again, we’re having people threaten our lives.”
