Iran-Oman Talks on Hormuz Make Progress

Tehran reports fruitful discussions between Iranian and Omani deputy foreign ministers concerning the management of the Strait of Hormuz.

The two sides exchanged views on upholding common principles and operational mechanisms for ensuring safe passage in the strait, respecting the sovereignty of both coastal states.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei emphasized that the talks were productive and progress was made. Ongoing technical and political consultations are underway.

US media outlet CBS News suggests that despite the positive developments, more time is needed to finalize a comprehensive agreement.

Omani officials travelled to Tehran on Friday for talks, timed strategically alongside President Trump’s decision to suspend US airstrikes after 13 consecutive nights.
