Israeli Air Attack Kills Family of Three in Gaza
An Israeli air attack on a residential apartment in central Gaza claimed the lives of a father, mother, and their six-year-old daughter on Wednesday, escalating tensions despite the existing ceasefire agreement.
Palestinian health officials confirmed the tragedy, stating that another child miraculously survived the attack in Deir el-Balah and was rescued by emergency services.
“Children are tragically paying the price of this conflict,” said Al Jazeera’s Hind Khoudary, reporting from Gaza City. “Many who survive air strikes succumb to their wounds due to insufficient medical resources and overwhelmed healthcare facilities.”
The Israeli military later acknowledged carrying out the attack in Deir el-Balah, claiming it targeted a Hamas fighter. Additional air strikes were reported in Gaza City and Khan Younis, where displaced families had sought refuge.
The attack comes despite the US-brokered ceasefire agreement signed in October, which has largely quelled ground fighting. However, Israel has continued its aerial assault, leading to the tragic loss of life, primarily among children.
Since the conflict began in October, over 1,100 people have been killed in Gaza, including 275 children. The conflict escalated following a Hamas attack in southern Israel, leading to an Israeli military response deemed by many as an act of genocide.
