In his speech, President Deni accused the federal leadership of undermining key state institutions and departing from constitutional principles.
“The interim constitution has been suspended, government institutions have been manipulated, and the national army has been used for political purposes,” the Puntland leader said.
The address comes amid continued political tensions over governance, electoral arrangements and relations between Somalia’s Federal Government and regional administrations.

President Deni also commented on clashes and security incidents in Mogadishu on 3 June 2026, describing reported attacks targeting the residences of former President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khayre as regrettable.
“It is unfortunate that a place where politicians and Somali community leaders were meeting was attacked with mortars and warplanes,” he said.
The Puntland President further criticised the federal leadership, accusing it of contributing to political division and weakening public trust.
Saamaynta
Turning to Puntland’s security posture, President Deni rejected what he described as attempts to interfere in Puntland’s internal affairs and warned against actions that could threaten stability in the region.
“We will never accept anyone who harms the peace and security of Puntland,” he said, adding that Puntland’s security forces remained prepared to respond to threats.
The President also referred to reports and allegations concerning the recruitment of forces and political messaging linked to the federal authorities, although he did not provide additional details.
