Baidoa (HOL) — Somali National Army (SNA) forces, specifically the 9th Brigade Command, engaged in a fierce clash with Al-Shabaab militants in the Abagbeeday area, about 20 kilometers east of Hudur district in the Bakool region on Wednesday.

Colonel Younis Adan Hassan, commander of the 9th Brigade, stated that the army inflicted significant losses on the militant group and seized weapons and military equipment during the operation.

However, he did not disclose the exact number of Al-Shabaab members killed in the confrontation.

The operation comes as Al-Shabaab fighters, recently defeated in ongoing military campaigns in the Middle Shabelle region, have shifted their focus toward areas under the South West administration, including parts of Bakool.
