Jowhar (HOL) — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Aden Yabaal district in the Middle Shabelle region on Tuesday to accelerate the ongoing military campaign against Al-Shabaab. 

The president, accompanied by top military commanders, is expected to remain on the frontlines for several days to assess the situation, receive updates from field commanders, and boost troop morale. 

In a related development, units of the Somali Police Force were deployed overnight to reinforce military operations in the region. The deployment was overseen by Somali Police Force Commander Major General Asad Osman Abdullahi and Deputy Commander General Osman Abdullahi Mohamed, who urged the officers to support ongoing counterterrorism efforts. 

President Mohamud’s visit comes as Al-Shabaab militants have intensified their attacks on army bases in Middle Shabelle, Hiiraan, and Lower Shabelle regions.
