    NISA forces kill 16 Al-Shabaab militants in Lower Shabelle raid

    Mogadishu (HOL) — The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) said it carried out a successful operation in the Basro region of Lower Shabelle late last night, targeting Al-Shabaab militants. The operation, which followed careful planning, resulted in the deaths of at least 16 militants, including key leaders and fighters.According to the press release, the militants had been isolated in a remote area for several days, unable to receive reinforcements, and had been threatening local communities. NISA forces destroyed the vehicles used by the militants to conduct their attacks, significantly hindering their operational capacity.

    NISA said it was working closely with the Somali National Army and international partners, conducting continuous operations to eliminate extremist elements hiding in rural areas.

    Al-Shabaab, which has waged an insurgency for over a decade, continues to control parts of southern and central Somalia.
