Mogadishu (HOL) – At least one civilian was killed and three others injured on Tuesday after a landmine explosion struck near a small restaurant along the main road in Dayniile district of the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
Eyewitnesses said the restaurant, known as a popular gathering spot during the afternoon and evening hours, was busy during the blast. The victim has been identified as Aduur Mohamed Bariise.
Three other individuals inside the restaurant sustained injuries in the explosion, according to residents and first responders.
The blast occurred near a security checkpoint, though no casualties were reported among security personnel stationed nearby.
While no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, the Al-Shabaab militant group, which frequently targets civilian and government sites, is often behind such incidents in the capital.
Authorities have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the incident.
