Norway’s Haaland Claims “Robbery” After World Cup Exit
Alf-Inge Haaland, father of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, believes Norway were unfairly eliminated from the World Cup in their quarterfinal encounter with England.
Haaland senior claimed the referee saved England from defeat after Norway were denied a goal despite an apparent advantage. He also raised concerns over potential interference from overhead wires affecting England’s opening goal.
“Saved by the referee. Hope you win the WC now. But feel we got robbed today,” Haaland senior wrote in response to a post by journalist Henry Winter.
Despite the controversial incidents, Haaland junior refrained from placing blame on the referees. He expressed confidence in their abilities, suggesting that decisions usually go in their favor at Manchester City.
England will now face Argentina in the semifinals on Wednesday.
