PM Chairs Security Briefing at Ministry of Defence
The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, chaired a meeting on Mogadishu's security at the Ministry of Defence. The session included a briefing on the capital's security situation and the progress of ongoing stability efforts.
Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and coordination between security and defence institutions to protect civilians and consolidate stability in the capital. The meeting aimed to review current challenges and chart a path forward for sustained security gains.
Ceremony Honours National Forces with High-Level Attendance
The ceremony honouring the national forces was jointly organised by the Ministry of Defence and the Somali National Armed Forces Command. It was attended by the Minister of Defence, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, the Commander of the Somali National Armed Forces, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud, and the Governor of Banadir and Mayor of Mogadishu.
Also present were the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), the Commander of the Somali Police Force, and commanders and officers from the various forces. The event recognised the role of these institutions in maintaining security in the capital and across the country.
PM Commends Forces and Warns Against Undermining Security
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre commended the forces for their achievements in securing Mogadishu and the wider country. He emphasised the importance of preserving those gains and preventing any actions that undermine public security.
"No one should be allowed to jeopardise security, whoever they may be," the Prime Minister said. The statement underscored the government's resolve to protect citizens and maintain the stability achieved through sustained security planning.
