A senior charity official has warned that the latest Ebola outbreak poses massive logistical and humanitarian challenges, as the death toll continues to climb. Aid workers on the ground are struggling to contain the spread in remote areas with limited healthcare infrastructure.
The outbreak, which has already claimed dozens of lives, has prompted the World Health Organization to declare a global health emergency. Health officials are racing to trace contacts and establish isolation centres, but access to affected communities remains a significant hurdle.
“We are facing an uphill battle,” the official said. “The combination of difficult terrain, community mistrust, and a lack of basic medical supplies is making containment extremely difficult.”
International response teams are being deployed, but aid agencies say more funding and resources are urgently needed to prevent the outbreak from spiralling further out of control.
