Amid the escalation between Iran and the US, Donald Trump and the Board of Peace announced that an agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza was reached.

Senior Hamas officials confirmed to AFP on Friday that a deal was reached with Israel, but they also stressed their expectations for mediators and the board to ensure that Israel sticks to the deal.

Here are the latest developments:

Regional Impact

Senior Hamas official Ghazi Hamad told Al Jazeera that the Palestinian movement will not take any steps toward disarmament before Israeli forces withdraw from Gaza. He added that Israel would have no role in the disarmament process. Instead, it set to be carried out by a Palestinian national committee.

Meanwhile, AFP reported citing an official from the movement that The Palestinian technocratic committee established by the Board of Peace to govern Gaza will be “the sole entity” overseeing the process of managing and storing Hamas’ weapons.

The Iranian army said it carried out attacks against “strategic US centres” in Kuwait using drones, in response to an American strike on a residential home in Qeshm that killed several family members.

Market & Policy

The Israeli army are preventing the Lebanese military from completing deployment in southern Lebanon, Beirut’s army commander Rodolphe Haykal said on Thursday. “The occupation persists in its attacks and repeated violations to obstruct the army’s efforts,” Haykal said during an address to soldiers.

Israeli forces carried out “violent explosions” overnight in the southern Lebanese towns of Yahmar al-Shaqif, located near the strategic Beaufort Castle, Arnoun and Kfar Tebnit, state media reported. The blasts were heard across the south, with shock waves felt as far as al-Kharrub and Khalde.
