Tech News: Ryan Beiermeister Joins Founders Fund as Partner
Silicon Valley veteran Ryan Beiermeister has joined Founders Fund as a partner, the firm announced on Monday.
Beiermeister is known for her work at OpenAI, where she played a key role in the rise of ChatGPT. However, she was reportedly fired in February after objecting to a planned ChatGPT feature called “adult mode,” which was intended for erotica.
Beyond her controversy-laden stint at OpenAI, Beiermeister has become recognized for her strategic prowess in Founders Fund’s YouTube show “Mafia,” where she competed against prominent figures from various tech companies.
Despite her entertaining performance in the game, Founders Fund clarified that her selection as a partner wasn’t influenced by her Mafia performance. Her close relationship with Trae Stephens, who founded the firm, and her long-standing friendship with the team played a crucial role in her appointment.
Beiermeister expressed her interest in backing startups in sectors where Founders Fund excels, such as AI infrastructure, defense, and biotechnology.
The new partner encourages founders who deviate from conventional molds to reach out to her directly. “To the founders in these domains, especially if you don’t fit the standard mold: I want to talk to you and my inbox is open,” she wrote on LinkedIn.
