Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi emphasized that Iraq is committed to ensuring the state alone holds decision-making power over war and peace, with constitutional institutions safeguarding sovereignty and stability. He stated that executive measures are building a foundation for a state of institutions that protects national interests and creates an environment conducive to development and investment.
The government is actively waging a battle against corruption and the protection of public funds, pursuing sustainable reforms to improve service delivery and performance efficiency. Al-Zaidi highlighted that these efforts are essential for consolidating stability and attracting both domestic and foreign investment to Iraq's economy.
Energy Diversification and Regional Integration
Iraq is working to diversify its oil export outlets and develop energy corridors linking the country with Türkiye, Jordan, and Syria, aiming to reach global markets and reduce dependence on complex trade routes. The Development Road project represents a comprehensive vision for regional integration, connecting the Grand Faw Port through Türkiye to Europe as a strategic gateway for trade, investment, and energy.
Al-Zaidi expressed concern over the repercussions of disruptions to freedom of transport and maritime navigation, which have caused rising energy prices worldwide. He affirmed Iraq's ambition to become a global hub for energy production, leveraging its resources, market, location, and will to build a new economy that strengthens regional and international security.
