Specific Agreements on Sudan and Somalia
A significant portion of the discussions addressed the specific situations in Sudan and Somalia. The leaders unanimously agreed to support the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Sudan and its state institutions. They called for the rejection of any parallel structures to state institutions and urged the resumption of Sudan's political process led by its own people, while strictly opposing any support for mercenaries.
Regarding Somalia, the leaders reaffirmed their support for the unity and sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia. They explicitly rejected any interference aimed at undermining this sovereignty, specifically mentioning the recognition of 'Somaliland'. Additionally, they pledged support for Somalia's counter-terrorism efforts and called on international partners to provide adequate, sustainable, and predictable funding for the African Union Support Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
