Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with a delegation led by the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, in Mogadishu on Thursday.
During the meeting, Minister Al Nahyan delivered a message from UAE President Mohammed Bin Zayed, reaffirming the strong bilateral ties and strategic cooperation between the two nations.
The visit follows a recent phone conversation between the two leaders, emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation and solidarity between their countries.
President Mohamud expressed his gratitude to the UAE government and its people for their continued support, highlighting the UAE’s role in Somalia’s development and its solidarity with the Somali people.
The UAE has strongly condemned Tuesday’s assassination attempt on President Mohamud, which killed eight people. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, stating on its Telegram channel that its fighters had targeted the presidential convoy as it left the palace en route to the airport.
