Somali Military Conducts Operations Against Al-Shabaab in Shabelle Region
The Somali National Army (SNA) has conducted an operation against Al-Shabaab militants in the Shabelle region of Somalia, liberating several villages from the group’s control.
The operation, known as “Uranta 161-164,” targeted several villages in the Tooratoorow, Caliyoow Baarow, Doonka, and Farsooley districts of the Shabeellaha Hoose region.
The SNA claimed to have inflicted heavy casualties on the Al-Shabaab fighters, forcing them to withdraw from the area. The operation also resulted in the liberation of several villages previously under Al-Shabaab control.
The Somali government forces have been battling Al-Shabaab for years, and despite recent advances, the group still maintains a presence in several regions of Somalia.
