Malaysia Vows to Deport Israelis from Digital Nomads Community

Johor, Malaysia – The prime minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, has declared that authorities will deport any Israeli nationals found in the country, citing Malaysia’s non-recognition of Israel.

Anwar’s statement comes in the midst of an investigation into allegations that Israelis were involved in Network School, a private residential and technology community in the southern state of Johor.

Investigation Uncovers Alleged Israeli Involvement

The investigation was prompted by social media users alleging that some participants in the Network School project were Israeli citizens with dual nationality who had entered Malaysia using passports from other countries.

Network School, described as a “frontier community of techno-optimists,” aims to transform internet communities into physical start-up societies.

Government Response and Deportation Threat

Following the allegations, Prime Minister Anwar confirmed that if investigations confirm Israeli involvement in Network School, the country would take action and deport them immediately.

“If it turns out that the claims are true, they will be deported immediately,” Anwar said. “All relevant authorities are already conducting an investigation into the matter.”

Malaysia’s Stance on Israel

Malaysia, with a Muslim majority, does not have diplomatic relations with Israel and bars Israeli passport holders from entering the country without special approval. However, the country does not have laws preventing people with dual citizenship from travelling on non-Israeli passports.

Investigation Expanding

Johor’s chief minister has instructed relevant agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the project’s activities, examining travel documents, identities, and the purpose of entry into Malaysia.
