Google’s New Ad Imagines Founders with Workspace
Two hundred and fifty years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, a new commercial from Google wonders what if the Founding Fathers had access to Google Workspace.
The ad features a largely unseen Thomas Jefferson drafting the Declaration when he receives a text from Ben Franklin suggesting edits in Google Docs, scheduling a remote meeting via Google Meet (with no cameras on!), and finalizing with e-signatures. AI plays a role with visualization tools, note-taking, and offering advice.
While reactions are mostly positive, some critics call the ad ‘cringey’ and ‘tone deaf,’ focusing on the AI element.
