T-Mobile Scores Court Win in Battle for VMware Support

T-Mobile has secured a court order requiring Broadcom to continue supporting its VMware perpetual licenses. The mobile company claims that Broadcom breached its contract by ending sales of VMware perpetual licenses and changing its support terms.

T-Mobile maintains that it purchased perpetual licenses along with two years of support in 2023, with an option to extend for a third year. However, Broadcom allegedly refused to renew the support after acquiring VMware.

The court granted T-Mobile an injunction to receive support services until August 3, 2026, for $5.28 million, accompanied by a $500,000 undertaking.

T-Mobile seeks a formal declaration that its perpetual licenses entitle it to ongoing support and additional relief as deemed necessary.
