What’s happened? Perplexity AI just dropped a new language learning feature built right into its platform. In a post shared on social media, the company announced a tool that helps users learn by conversing, translating, or practicing directly within the app. Additionally, Perplexity Co-founder Aravind Sriniwas also shared the news, noting that “Answers need to go beyond text to interactive experiences and cards embedded into the stream of tokens.”

Though Perplexity hasn’t revealed full details yet, here’s what we know so far:

    • You can practice words and basic terms, or use flashcards to learn and memorize more advanced phrases.
    • Users can switch between languages while asking questions and get instant feedback or translations.
    • It’s integrated into the same interface where you already ask questions, no separate app needed.
    • The feature is currently available on iOS and web; however, Android users will have to wait further.

This is important because: It changes how we see AI chatbots. Perplexity isn’t just here to fetch facts; it could actually help you learn over time, just like Google Translate is offering language lessons.

    • Since the toolkit is right there with your search/ask functions, switching between factual Q&A and language practice becomes seamless.
    • It raises the bar for AI platforms because if Perplexity can do this, others may follow.
