Sony waxay ku soo bandhigaysaa PS5-ka caadiga ah tignoolajiyad cusub oo AI ah oo ka dhigaysa muuqaalka midabka sare
Sony waxay maanta ku soo bandhigaysaa PS5-ka caadiga ah tignoolajiyad cusub oo AI ah oo loo yaqaan Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR), taas oo ka dhigaysa muuqaalka ciyaaraha midabka sare oo aad u fiican. Tani waa tallaabo muhiim ah oo ku timid PS5-ka caadiga ah, iyadoo ku xiran Project Amethyst ee ay waddo Sony iyo AMD.
QSSR iyo PSSR: Isbeddelka muuqaalka
Sony waxay sheegtay in tignoolajiyadda cusub ee QSSR ay tahay 'tier cusub oo AI ah oo muuqaalka ka dhigaysa midabka sare', taas oo ka timid shaqeynta Project Amethyst ee ay waddo Sony iyo AMD. Tani waxay ka dhigan tahay in PS5-ka caadiga ah uu helay tignoolajiyad cusub oo muuqaalka ka dhigaysa midabka sare oo aad u fiican.
Hase yeeshee, Sony waxay sheegtay in PSSR, taas oo ku jirta PS5 Pro, ay 'hadda noqotay midabka sare ee ugu fiican'. QSSR ma ahan mid aad u dhakhso badan oo PSSR ah, sababtoo ah PS5-ka ma leeyahay silicon gaar ah oo AI ah, sida ay sheegtay Sony.
Ciyaaraha ugu horreeya ee QSSR
Ciyaaraha ugu horreeya ee QSSR ayaa ah Marvel's Wolverine iyo Ghost of Yōtei, iyadoo patches-ka QSSR-ka la bixiyay maanta si loo helo 'doorasho muuqaal oo dheeraad ah oo PS5-ka ah'. Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition waxay sidoo kale maanta la baxaysa.
Sony waxay sheegtay in QSSR ay 'noqon karto midabka sare ee PSSR-ka' kadib maalmo kooban oo shaqeyn ah, taas oo ka dhigaysa in PS5-ka caadiga ah uu helay tignoolajiyad cusub oo muuqaalka ka dhigaysa midabka sare oo aad u fiican.
Mustaqbalka QSSR
Digital Foundry waxay sheegtay in 'mustaqbalka QSSR-ka uu aad u weyn yahay: muuqaalka hoose iyo midabka sare ee hoose ayaa saameeyay ciyaaraha badan ee jirkooda, laakiin QSSR waxay ka dhigaysaa midabka sare mid aad u fiican'.
Sony waxay sheegtay in QSSR ay 'bixiso tignoolajiyad cusub oo AI ah oo muuqaalka ka dhigaysa midabka sare' oo loo isticmaali karo ciyaaraha badan, taas oo ka dhigaysa in PS5-ka caadiga ah uu helay tignoolajiyad cusub oo muuqaalka ka dhigaysa midabka sare oo aad u fiican.
Sony has unveiled Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR), a new AI upscaling technology designed specifically for the standard PS5, marking a significant step forward in console graphics performance.
A New Upscaling Tier for PS5
Sony's QSSR is described as a 'new performance tier of AI upscaling' developed through Project Amethyst in collaboration with AMD. While PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) remains the gold standard on the PS5 Pro, QSSR adapts this technology for the standard console. Sony acknowledges that PSSR 'remains the gold standard,' but QSSR offers a practical alternative for the broader PS5 user base.
The standard PS5 lacks dedicated machine learning silicon, meaning QSSR is not as fast as PSSR. As a result, players should expect closer to an upscaled 1440p resolution on PS5 rather than the upscaled 4K available on the PS5 Pro. This limitation reflects the hardware differences between the two consoles.
Developer Flexibility and Compatibility
On PS5 Pro, developers almost uniformly output to 4K and adjust render resolution beneath it. On PS5, teams have to be more flexible, tuning not just render resolution, but also their intermediate and final presentation targets depending on the graphics mode. Sony principal graphics R&D engineer Daniel Craig highlighted these differences during discussions with Digital Foundry.
QSSR is 'fundamentally a drop-in replacement for titles that already support PSSR' after only a few days of tuning, making it easier for PS5 developers to adopt. The tech will be 'offered broadly to all PlayStation developers,' ensuring widespread availability across the console ecosystem.
First Games and Broader Impact
Marvel's Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei will be the first games to take advantage of QSSR, with patches being offered as 'an additional graphics option on PS5.' Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition also launches today, providing players with immediate access to the new technology.
Digital Foundry writes that 'the potential here is remarkable: low resolution and poor upscaling have impacted so many titles in this generation, but QSSR could make a big difference.' This suggests that QSSR could significantly improve the visual quality of many games on the standard PS5.
