Red Bull's New Floor Delivers Immediate Pace
Red Bull's car was on average more than 0.5 seconds a lap slower than Mercedes in the first half of the year, but the team's new floor upgrade has reversed that trend. Max Verstappen described the result as 'incredible' and noted that the new floor gives more lap time and better overall balance in the car. He added that on a hot track where a stable or connected balance is desired, the upgrade is particularly important. Verstappen arrived in Malaysia after a run of three consecutive podium finishes and finished less than 0.2 seconds off victory in Baku last Sunday.
The upgrade is centred on a new floor which has more than proved its worth on the Sepang track. Verstappen stated that the new floor gives more lap time and better overall balance in the car. He noted that with tyres that are very sensitive to balance, the upgrade gives you also more lap time. On a track probably where it's all very hot and you want a stable balance or connected balance, then that's very important. And that's what we have found a little bit more over the last weekends.
Hamilton Fears Tough Battle; Mercedes Struggles Continue
Lewis Hamilton fears Max Verstappen will be tough to beat in Sunday's race.
