Istanbul (HOL) — Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and
International Cooperation Abdisalam Abdi Ali arrived in Istanbul on Friday to
participate in the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the
Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The high-level meeting, scheduled for June 21–22, will focus
on strengthening joint Islamic action and enhancing coordination among OIC
member states. The agenda includes discussions on major regional and global
developments impacting the Islamic world.
Hosted by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, the summit
comes at a time of heightened tensions, including ongoing Israeli military
operations in Gaza and escalating friction between Israel and Iran.
This year’s session is being held under the theme: *“The
Organization of Islamic Cooperation in a Transforming World.”
The Turkish Foreign Ministry emphasized the significance of
the meeting, describing it as an opportunity to reaffirm solidarity among
Muslim-majority nations in the face of evolving geopolitical challenges.
