Doorashada Israa'iil: Kiryat Shmona oo kala qaybsan taageerayaasha Netanyahu
Degmada waqooyiga Israa'iil ee muddo dheer taageertay Likud ayaa hadda martigelinaysa fikrado kala duwan ka hor doorashada 27ka Oktoobar.
Kiryat Shmona, oo muddo tobanaan sano ah xarun siyaasadeed u ahayd xisbiga Likud, ayaa dadkeeda kala qaybsan yihiin taageerayaasha iyo kuwa diidan Benjamin Netanyahu, iyadoo doorashada 27ka Oktoobar ay noqotay mid ku saabsan hoggaankiisa iyo dhaxalkiisa.
Magaalo soo martay dagaallo
Kiryat Shmona waxay ku taal dhinaca Ramim Ridge, halkaas oo xadka Israa'iil iyo Lubnaan uu maro. Waxay ka mid ahayd magaalooyinka Israa'iil ee ay bartilmaameedsadeen gantaallada iyo diyaaradaha Hezbollah ka dib weerarkii 7da Oktoobar 2023 ee Hamas, taasoo kicisay dagaalka Qasa. Qiyaastii kala bar 25,000 oo qof oo deggan magaalada ayaa ku soo noqday markii dagaalka koonfurta Lubnaan uu qaboojiyay.
Taageerayaasha iyo kuwa diidan
Aasaasaha dukaan kebab Amnon Oved, oo deggan Kiryat Shmona, ayaa sheegay in Netanyahu uu waqtigiisii dhaafay. Waxa uu yiri Netanyahu waa inuu Maraykanka aado oo uu la fadhiisto Madaxweynaha Maraykanka Donald Trump, ama uu xabsiga fadhiisto. Dhanka kale, Yoav Sabbag ayaa sheegay in Netanyahu uu yahay qofka kaliya ee nolol ku soo celin kara magaalada, isagoo sheegay inuu dareemo ammaan dalkiisa iyo aaggan shan daqiiqo u jira Lubnaan.
Kala qaybsanaanta siyaasadeed
Shimon Kamari, oo ahaa ku-xigeenka duqa magaalada, ayaa sheegay inuu taageerayo Gadi Eisenkot, isagoo sheegay in dhaqanka beenta ah ee Israa'iil ku soo baxay ay tahay in la beddelo. Herzl Ben Asher, oo isna ahaa ku-xigeenka duqa magaalada, ayaa ka soo horjeeda, isagoo sheegay in Netanyahu uu u baahan yahay inuu dhammaystiro shaqadiisa. Doorashadii Noofambar 2022, in ka badan 49 boqolkiiba codadka Kiryat Shmona waxay u heleen xisbiga Netanyahu, halka liiska Ben-Gvir iyo Smotrich uu helay in ka yar 14 boqolkiiba.
Residents of the northern city, long a Likud stronghold, weigh security and change after years of conflict
Voters in Kiryat Shmona are divided over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of the October 27 election, with residents citing his handling of multiple wars and the corruption charges against him, according to ABC Australia.
A stronghold under strain
Kiryat Shmona has been a Likud stronghold for decades and sits at the foot of the Ramim Ridge, where the border between Israel and Lebanon runs. It was one of the Israeli cities targeted by Hezbollah's rocket and drone strikes after the Hamas-led October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel triggered the war in Gaza. Only about half of the city's 25,000 residents have returned since fighting in southern Lebanon calmed.
Loyalty and calls for change
At the November 2022 election, just over 49 per cent of the vote in Kiryat Shmona went to the Netanyahu-led party, while the joint ticket led by Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich ranked second with just under 14 per cent. Kebab shop founder Amnon Oved said of Netanyahu: "Bibi needs to go to America and sit there with [US President Donald] Trump, to smoke grass together and have a good life. Or he will sit here in prison, one of the two."
Former deputy mayor Shimon Kamari said he would back Gadi Eisenkot, stating: "This culture that took root in the State of Israel, the culture of lies, we have to change it. And I believe that the four parties of change, headed by Eisenkot, will be able to bring us back on track."
Supporters defend the prime minister
Herzl Ben Asher, another former deputy mayor and current editor of the Gaillee News, argued that Netanyahu needs to maintain his achievements and complete his work, describing his achievements as "incomprehensible" in scale and significance. Resident Yoav Sabbag said Netanyahu was the only person who could breathe life back into the city, stating: "We have to decide to take just Benjamin Netanyahu, because … maybe it is not [like he is] the 'Superman', but he [makes] me feel security in my country and in this area, five minutes from Lebanon."
